July - August 2009 - Publishers Message:
First off, I’d like to say a special thank you to all of our subscribers, advertisers and distributors. Without your support we would not have made it through the first 10 years. And what a 10 years it has been! I would also like to thank Carrie Maidment, our magic graphic artist who makes our pages come to life like no other magazine and most especially, Jennifer, without these two girls there would not be an AutoArt Magazine. I’m just the coordinator; they do most all the work. I also have to thank Jeff Fielder (a most superb writer) and everybody who has contributed to AAM. The work showcased has truly been incredible.
With this issue we start our second decade and I’m pleased to have Art Himsl as our cover artist. He has inspired so many of us over the years with his innovative and incredible custom paint jobs. I’m sure years from now when people in our industry look back on this time period, Art’s name will be among the best of the best.
We have a whole lot of kool stuff in this issue; Paul Quinn and Alan “AJ” Johnson bring us some informative how-to articles. Michael Stanford brings us a great spread and coverage of Brush Rush 12. Brian “The Brush” brings us up to speed on having a mobile business and working on the road. Chris MacMahan brings us Part Two of Airbrush 101; Robin Sharrard reminds us to consider children’s safety in your shop or at an event and Herb Martinez educates us on the mixing of paints and loading your brush properly. I’m also extremely excited about having coverage from our international correspondent Tetsuji “Tea?” Okuma on Japan’s 1st Annual Yokohama Kustom Paint Festival, which showcases what’s happening in this art form on the Island of Japan. More will come in the next issue, so stay tuned and in the loop with AutoArt Magazine. Enjoy another great issue.
